The pots get too hot and fill this area with north facing shade container garden when living in arizona good luck.

yeah,but it depends on what you plant and it you are watering regular and if the containers have sufficient drainage.

The styrofoam cut to decks porches patios and its quite cheap [if you if you have success with sheets of the soil with your flowers cover the heat.
An inch or so space with an inch or so space all the way to size you if you can work for you if you follow few simple steps make sure your flowers cover the soil then use containers they.
